Gail Blanke LET’S HEAR IT FOR HOPE!

I don’t have to tell you, hope is a rare commodity in the world today. Its opposite, despair, seems to have gained the upper hand. Yet everything good starts with hope. This country was founded on hope; it has endured because of hope; our greatest leaders in every sector are those who give us hope. With hope everything is possible. Hope breeds optimism and positive energy; positive energy breeds the kind of resolve that causes heroic effort. Heroic effort creates results - even miracles. Many… Continue

Kimberley Watkins Makeup - How to Recycle

Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone out there can help me. As I get new makeup for 2010, I am wondering what kind of programs are out there to recycle old makeup. I hate to just throw it in the garbage and fill up the landfills with it. I live in Northern British Columbia in Canada and we don't seem to have any programs in place for this. Can you suggest anything especially if you're a Canadian too? Thanx. Continue

Lisa Elliott Happy New Year to ALL of us!

I found Throw Out Fifty Things at my local library the other day. I started reading & knew it was perfect timing for me. I have been feeling SO STUCK in my life lately--more than EVER! Anyhow, I've spent the entire morning/afternoon today (12/31) cleaning out my bedroom closet. It felt great to shred old greeting cards/post-ems/notes. I've got bags of stuff packed for donation to my local Goodwill. My closet shelves look great now. I just know 2010 will be more FUN than I can ever imagine. I… Continue

alondra ladison Avid Scrapper

I'm an avid scrapper, serious reader, and an extreme magazine junkie. So as I read /browsed through my scrap magazine I seen this book used as inspiration for srapbooking. One reader used the book and created a page LO about 50 Things To Throw Out B4 I turn 39. I cut this section out and glued it in my own inspiration notebook. I received a Barnes & Noble gift card from my co-worker, so after Christmas I hit the store in search of this book. BINGO BANGO PRESTO!!!! Found it! Quickly diving in… Continue

John Smith Astral cult

An astral cult is the worship of celestial bodies in the form of deities. In almost all ancient civilizations contain such elements, as well as the nomination shows the planets after Roman gods. The early astral cults developed further in many cultures to astrology, the Babylonian astronomical observations provided the basis for the Greek astronomy in ancient times. The astral cult is based on the reflection on unexplained phenomena of the stars, constellations and their movements, which are in… Continue

Marsha A. Adams Keeping Score

I am having trouble wrapping my mind around score keeping. I understand that if I through out all two hundred magazines it only counts as one thing. But if I throw out all my lip liners and all my lipsticks, is that one thing or two things? What if I throw out all my lip liners and all my lipsticks and all my eyeliners and all my eye shadows, does that count as 1 thing - old make up, or 2 things - lip products and eye products, or 4 things - lip liners, lipsticks, eye liners and eye shadows? If… Continue

Kimberley Watkins Throw Out Fifty Things Has Become My "Bible"!!

I started reading Gail's book a couple of nights ago. Wow!! Did it ever hit me hard. Generally I am pretty good at cleaning out stuff that is broken, holey socks, etc. But Gail made me see that it came to more than that. Am I really going to watch all those DVDs from Walmart's 2/$10 bin that I haven't opened? Do I really want that underwear that an online date gave me when the relationship didn't work out? Do I really want that freaky magnet my sister gave me? And the list goes on. So this weeke… Continue

mitchypoo I knew what to do and I did it!

I read in the Monday Motivator that I know what to do, now just do it. And after reading a couple chapters it really motivated me and I started yesterday afternoon in my bedroom. Actually it started in the hallway to my bedroom where I had some "stuff" sitting there waiting for me to deal with. Oh, it's only been sitting there for over a year. Embarrassing but true. So I started going thru it and truthfully, it wasn't so bad once I decided to tackle it. I had a couple bathroom items I decided I… Continue

April NYC Still digging through the past.

I have been getting rid of more stuff. I had a pretty nifty flight attendant bag, vintage 1970s. I bought it in Tokyo in 1988 at a thrift shop in the suburbs. I had it full of extra wires from appliances I no longer have, speaker wires, RCA jacks, telephone cords. My husband was cleaning the closet and it just had to go. It was worse for wear and it would be hard to get it looking spiffy again. Buh bye. We have a couple of large plastic tote bags. We put things in them for donating to the local… Continue

Gail Blanke Quotes

My good friend Nadia Allaudin of Merrill Lynch sent along these fabulous, motivational quotes. I think you'll like them: "I dream of men who take the next step instead of worrying about the next thousand steps." - Theodore Roosevelt "Get bored with your past, it's over!" - Caroline Myss "Don't listen to those who say, 'You're taking too big a chance.' Michelangelo would have painted the Sistine floor, and it would surely be rubbed out by today. Most important, don't listen when the little… Continue

Marybeth Tassin Day 1---I'm on my way!!!

I got Gail's book in the mail yesterday and I'm really inspired to make a change in my life. I feel so overwelmed with all the stuff--physical, emotional and mental--that I just feel so stuck and unable to move. Since I've been reading Gail's book, I've looked in my closet at all the shoes and clothes and in the makeup drawer at least a hundred times but unable to touch anything. It's crazy! Tonight, I will clear out the shoes and the makeup before I go to bed. That will be 2 (really more but we… Continue

Lady Ivorwen The Kitchen List:

During the past two weeks, I have gone through every cupboard and drawer in my kitchen, systematically cleaning, tossing and rearranging. It is much nicer to work in now! For taking two weeks, my list may seem rather short, but emotionally, it is a very good list. I made the decision to keep the corelle ware we were given as a wedding gift, but had never opened -- 11 1/2 years ago. It is now in use, and serving us wonderfully. By rearranging things I found room for all of the things I longed to… Continue

Lady Ivorwen A Little Angel

This evening, I smashed my finger in a door. Trying to handle everything myself was impossible, because I wasn't thinking clearly. Just then, my two year old came, said in his way, "Finger hurt, oil!" He proceeded to lead me to the cupboard where we keep the arnica oil for such occasions. After I treated myself, he stayed by my side, until I could see clearly. I am learning that angels come in all sizes, and may even drag blankets around. Continue

gladys louise "paige" premo Please PRAY!

I am rearranging everything about our home, and this is one hard job. It is constant in that both hubby and I feel we are moving things from one place to the other. I can see small changes happening, yet it is a huge process. When I think about the way clutter is cloistering my life, a story from Jesus jumps out: He was relating to the group how the prodigal son was craving the husks the hogs were hoarding. And Jesus puts it this way: "And when he had come to the end of himself..." That can appl… Continue

Lady Ivorwen Pain and Healing

First, I would like to publicly thank Gail for writing this book. I have learned more about uncluttering my home and mind in the past week than in all my life previously. You have given me the tools to let go of junk and indecision. Thank you. Second, as I have been reading through the book, I have found all sorts of emotions and ideas locked in my thinking that I didn't even know were there. Thoughts of not deserving my husband's and family's love. Thoughts of not being pretty to be worth the… Continue

AngelaGia Feeling "Lighter" Part 2

I am going to commit to writing ten minutes a day in this blog. My mind has been cluttered so long with feelings of anger and guilt.... I feel as though I have been living so long with these toxic emotions and I need to purge them.... When I begin to clear clutter I feel overwhelmed but that feeling is replaced by a sense of accomplishment. I have also realized that I need to focus on just one task at a time.... It has taken me literally YEARS to learn that!!!! So I am writing in my blog and wai… Continue
